The Indictment Chamber has sole discretion to assess whether the delay in informing a person placed in police custody of their rights is legitimate. Article 63-1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure merely requires that the above information be given in a language that the person in custody understands, and not that the judicial police officer have recourse to a sworn interpreter.
